Sanjay Dutt shakes hand with Nandy for 'Kaante 2'

It's a different texture sequel. And the thorny issue is that director Sanjay Gupta, who helmed the original, will not be directing Kaante 2, being crafted by Sanjay Dutt Productions and Pritish Nandy Communications.

Apparently, most of the original cast will be retained in the sequel saga, that's being touted as a "concept film."

Sanjay Dutt in a magazine quote, "When Pritish Nandy came to me and narrated a line on Kaante 2, I flipped for it. The sequel will be bigger and better than the original and will be one of the biggest action films shot abroad. Sanjay Gupta will not be directing it and we will have a famous director on board."

Nandy confirms in a media quote, "Sanjay had first approached me for Kaante and Sanjay Gupta came on board later. Barring Lucky Ali, we plan to use most of the original cast members. The sequel will also have a few young actors to give a different texture to Kaante 2."

Nandy includes, "The first draft of the script will be ready in a fortnight and the shooting will start early next year. This will be our biggest production ever."
