One of the ad-commercial of a soft drink brand featuring Katrina Kaif has used Oscar winning composer AR Rahman’s music without his awareness.When the ace composer learnt about it, he instantly asked his lawyer to speak to T-series Music Company to find out how his tune has been let out to the ad. The tune in question is from the blockbuster movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and was personally composed for Latika’s entry in the film.
In general, music companies do not have to seek permission from composers to give the music to anyone but with Rahman it is on royalty basis. He owns the rights of all his compositions and now the music company has assured that they will keep him in loop even when they are in talks with any company.
