Stellar reviews for Shaitan

Disturbing yet riveting, gritty, violent and in your face – Viacom 18’s and Anurag Kashyup’s Shaitan is non-apologetic and every bit the gripping taut thriller promised by the makers-

After an impressive opening Shaitan has gone on to receive rave reviews, acquiring the status of a cult youth film speaking to the youth in their own language.

Says famed critic/ trade analyst Taran Adarsh "What really makes Shaitan stand out from films of its ilk is that it captures the pragmatism or matter-of-factness characteristic most compellingly. The circumstances in life when the inner demons come to the fore and people are forced to react in farthest method [violent, in most cases] have been depicted intelligibly and most eloquently. Also, what makes it all the more interesting is the fact that the film is very well shot -- the novel angles and high speed shots make it an exhilarating cinematic experience."

Produced by Anurag Kashyap and co-produced by Tipping Point Films - a division of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures ,Shaitan  marks the directorial debut of Bejoy Nambiar who has earlier assisted industry stalwarts like Mani Ratnam and Anurag Kashyap.

All praise for the debutant director says Rajeev Masand “First-time-feature director Nambiar tells his story confidently and stylishly, and uses various narrative devices like voice-overs and flashbacks-within-flashbacks to keep things from getting predictable. Nambiar makes a confident debut and delivers a brave, engaging film that shouldn't be missed.”

Starring Rajeev Khandelwal ,Kalki Koechlin , Neil Bhoopalam ,Shiv Pandit, Kirti Kulhari and Gulshan  Devaiah Shaitan tells the tale of 5 youngsters set in the urbanscape of Mumbai. Amy, Dash, KC, Zubin and Tanya know no boundaries and seek edgy excitement until they are made to face their “inner Shaitan” when a ‘moment’ changes everything.
