The sets were abuzz as the first day of shooting Balaji’s Dirty Picture -a story chronicles the romantic journey of the erstwhile sensation Silk Smitha commenced.
The film will see protagonist Vidya Balan lose all inhibitions to play the sexy southern siren Silk Smitha in the bold, humorous and dazzling multi-starrer set in the 80's south film industry.
After preparing for her role with 2 months of strenuous workshops and researching Hollywood flicks with strong and bold body language like Chicago and Burlesque, Vidya Balan walked onto the sets every bit the sexy and spunky Silk Smitha.
Being the religious devotee that she is Vidya wanted everything on the sets to go smoothly and started the shoot by holding a small pooja .
Dirty Picture also sees Vidya Balan reunite with co-star and veteran actor Nasseruddin Shah after the 2010 hit Ishqiya. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and directed by Milan Luthria the film also stars Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi who play the key romantic interests in Silk's life.
Ironically enough it was Naseruddin Shah’s wife Ratna Pathak who introduced a very nervous Tusshar Kapoor to Naseer on the first day of the shoot.
Says a source “Tusshar Kapoor is a huge Naseruddin Shah fan and was very nervous in his presence .That’s when Ratna Pathak who worked with Tusshar in Golmaal returns ,stepped in and broke the ice between the two “
