Shiney Ahuja sentenced 7 years rigorous imprisonment

Actor Shiney Ahuja has been convicted on charges of raping his then 18-year-old domestic help. He has been sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment by a fast track session court. Judge has even fined him Rs. 3000 during the session.

The actor broke down during the session and pleaded for leniency saying he had a family to look after and a career to pursue. The devastated actor was directly taken to jail after the verdict. He hugged his mother and walked up to the police van holding his wife’s hand.

The verdict has been made on the basis of
DNA reports, torn hymen, blood marks on the victim’s clothes, semen on the quilt and curtains and also the scratch marks on Ahuja’s hands made by the victim during the struggle. In the DNA reports, the male haplotypes obtained from the vaginal smear slides of victim matched to the male haplotypes in the control blood sample of Shiney. Thus, Ahuja has been found guilty under section 376 (rape). However, he has been acquitted from the charges of criminal intimation and wrongful confinement.

During cross-examinations victim had turned hostile. She stated that she was in love with 38-year-old actor and had called him 15-16 times on June 14 to tell him about her feelings for him. But later she feared that she will lose her job at his place. However, victim's turn around did not help the actor and now he will appeal in High Court.
