Teenager queues for 'Delhi Belly'; Family’s thumbs up for 'Bbuuddah...Hoga Tera Baap'

Aamir Khan may have given an 'adults only' caution before 'Delhi Belly' released, but that hasn't stopped a majority of youngsters from queuing up for the film for its spunky, into-the-face dialogues. At the same tome, Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Bbuuddah...Hoga Tera Baap' is managing to keep the cash registers ringing, thanks to family viewers with a preference for clean entertainment.
'I knew I have to watch 'Delhi Belly' movie when I saw the first teaser. It looked so much fun and with Aamir Khan's tag, it was on my must watch list. The trailers and all the fun songs drew me even more. But after watching it, I have to say, 'Delhi Belly' was a total paisa vasool movie!' Shobhit Sharma said.
'Delhi Belly' is an enjoyment for the boy gangs in India's urban cape. It captures the free-spirited, money minded, brash generation X reprsented by Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor in the movie.
Youngsters, especially in the age group of 14-30 years, booked tickets in advance for 'Delhi Belly' thanks to the buzz around it. The songs, particularly the cult number 'Bhaag DK Bose', remained a key draw too as the film went on to recover its cost by amassing Rs.26 crore in the opening weekend itself.
For Shantanu Mishra, a 17-year-old, 'Delhi Belly' was like 'a forbidden fruit'.
'Everyone was saying it was meant for adults only...that drew more interest in me for 'Delhi Belly'. If people restrict us youngsters for something, we want it even more. So I decided to go for it with a bunch of 15 friends. It is an awesome movie, and more than just for adults, I would advocate it only for guys and that too single,' told Mishra.
Irrespective of the increasing buzz and word-of-mouth publicity for 'Delhi Belly', even 'Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap' is making money at the box office, told director and business head of DT Cinemas.
''Delhi Belly' caters to the young crowd, while Bbuddah.. is meant for the family. 'Delhi Belly' has an interesting concept and it has been promoted in such a way that the audience know what to expect from it,' he told.
'Bbuddah...' in its own unique way is wooing oldies back to the cinema halls and even the family audience seems to prefer the film for its simple masala, spiced with a 'beep' instead of explicit expletives.
'Bbuddah...' may have had a slow start with Rs.1.91 crore on the day of its release, but it geared up on the weekend and made Rs. 7.06 crore over the weekend.
'After a long time I saw a film first day first show, and what a movie it was,' Amlan Goswami, a fan posted on Big B's blog after watching 'Bbuddah', which is about a flamboyant Paris-returned gangster, played by 68-year-old Amitabh.
'Ultimate style. I plan to watch it this Sunday again...It's just a sincere request to keep doing this type of stuff again and again because we are born and brought up with this style of yours and we don't want to lose it. You should keep reminding the world what you actually are. A great movie which will always be remembered for your unique style,' included Goswami in his appreciation post to Big B.
'BHTB is a visual and emotional treat......Action, comedy, pathos, panache all in one, left a lump in my throat .....So many times during the movie I had tears flowing down my cheeks - sometimes in happiness, sometimes in awe n just once in sadness in the end,' Anamika, another fan, wrote on Big B's blog.
There was much keenness for both the films, and it seems they are turning out to be winners amid their rightful target viewers.

Film review - Buddha Hoga Tera Baap (2011)

Film Name: Buddha Hoga Tera Baap
Starring: Amitabh Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Sonal Chahan, Charmy, Hema Malini, Prakash Raj
Music: Vishal-Shekhar
Director: Puri Jagannadh

Director Puri Jagannath’s tribute to Amitabh Bachchan with film Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap. He tells all these years we missed the angry young man and yes we did. So does Bbuddah builds back his image. Well, as we are used to watching the suave, dapper and kinda emotional Mr. Bachchan on screen since quite some time now, at first it is a little hard to accept him donning a roadside romeo type outfit and mouthing the tapori lingo but as you start getting used to it, you start enjoying the movie.

Buddha Hoga Tera Baap is fresh and a fascinating movie by Puri that thankfully doesn’t drag itself and has quite an interesting entwine. Viju (Amitabh Bachchan) is a sharp shooter and in his words can shoot right through the center of the brain not once but twice without missing a centimeter. He comes down from Paris to Mumbai after 20 years to save his son ACP Karan (Sonu Sood) from the mafia while Karan is not aware about his actions.

Particularly crafted for the mega star, Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap stands apt for its name. This Bbuddah is sabka baap. Bachchan takes the whole movie on his shoulder and can today also give any actor a run for their money. As he truly says in the movie that Mumbai has grown with him and the young ones are copying his style and moves. He sure is the Baap of the Indian Film Industry.

The movie has parallel stories that suggest Karan’s love inclination for Tanya (Sonal Chauhan), Viju’s past that includes his alienated wife Sita (Hema Malini) and ex-girlfriend Kamini (Raveena Tandon) who swoons over the gangster. And then there is Kamini’s daughter Amrita (Charmy) who is puzzled about what is and what was her mum’s relation with Viju. All these parallel stories add the necessary drama and punk to make the movie all the more interesting.

Raveena Tandon needs extraordinary mention, the original item queen of Bollywood is back and how. She looks striking and is a treat to watch. We keep craving for her item number ‘Chandigarh di Star’ only to find out that it was just shot for promotions. Raveena is amazing with her magnifying charisma and yummy screen presence.

Hema Malini performs her part well. Sonu Sood is fine and plays his part with perfection. The icing on the cake is Prakash Raj who probably has mastered the art of playing the baffled villain. We loved him in ‘Wanted’ and will love him in ‘Bbuddah’. Sonal Chauhan had nothing much to do while South Indian actress Charmy fits the role and does justice to it. Puri Jagannadh’s direction is crisp and takes out the best out of his actors. The main high point of the film is its editing and tighter script. It doesn’t feel dragged and ends at the right point. Vishal-Shekhar’s music is apt and could be well played in pubs.

Overall, film is good to watch for Amitabh, this one is absolutely worth your money spent.

Delhi Belly opens with 70 to 90 percent and Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap with 30 to 40 percent!

Delhi Belly, starring Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur, has taken a flying start at box office. The movie released at 1200 screens and saw the occupancy of 70 to 90 percent. The film’s box office collection is expected to go up on Saturday and Sunday. The final figures of its first weekend collection will be available on Monday afternoon.
The coming week would see the competition with Murder 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez, and Chillar Party, co-produced by Salman Khan.

Puri Jagannath wants to show Amitabh Bachchan’s young persona!

Puri Jagannath
Tollywood director Puri Jagannath, who is returning to Hindi movies after seven years with 'Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap' in which Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan plays a bold and colorful role, tells he made the movie to tell the people that the 68-year-old actor is still young.
'I'm a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan since childhood and I used to watch all his movies. But then came a time, when he started doing films that I didn't like him in,' Jagannath said.
'After 'Mard' I didn't see his movies till he did 'Sarkar' and that was perfect for him,' he told.
'I wanted to make a film just for him and make it in a way that I can tell people that he is not old. He still has that fire, he still has that charisma. Hence was born the idea of this film,' he included.
In 'Bbuddah...Hoga Tera Baap', Bachchan is seen as an angry man who wears bright, bold, over-the-top clothes and hates it when someone calls him old. The movie also stars Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood and Sonal Chauhan and is slated for release Friday.
The 44-year-old director, who had a grim beginning at the Bollywood box office in 2004 when he made 'Shart', is confident about success this time and believes that people will like Big B in the new image.
'I have been confident about this character from the very beginning. Bachchan is very good with every emotion, whether its's drama or comedy, and he is truly an entertainer. So I'm sure people will like him in this image as well,' Jagannath told.
The Telugu director, who has made successful films like 'Badri', 'Pokiri', 'Chiruta' and 'Neninthe', among others, said working with Bachchan was one of the best experiences he has ever had.
'It was a wonderful experience working with Bachchan. He is a very cool and calm person and very co-operative. I learnt a lot from him,' he told.
'Sometimes he even used to give his opinion. He is very committed and focused. He will practice the scene at home, will tell me how he will do it and if I make some last-minute changes, he would incorporate them,' he told.
'He used to always be fully prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him,' he included.
After 'Bbuddah... Hoga Tera Baap', Jagannath is looking at making a stronger presence in Bollywood and planning to start working on three Hindi movies next year.
'I want to do more Hindi films now. I have three scripts. I want to start working on them next year. However, the cast and other things are not confirmed as of now,' he disclosed.

Raveena Tandon
Raveena Tandon
Raveena Tandon

'Incidentally!! 'Chaiya chaiya' was offered to me first!! I'd already done many songs that I said no to this, afraid will be labelled item girl! ha ha,' Raveena revealed on her bolg.
