Film Name: Buddha Hoga Tera Baap

Music: Vishal-Shekhar
Director: Puri Jagannadh

Director Puri Jagannath’s tribute to Amitabh Bachchan with film Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap. He tells all these years we missed the angry young man and yes we did. So does Bbuddah builds back his image. Well, as we are used to watching the suave, dapper and kinda emotional Mr. Bachchan on screen since quite some time now, at first it is a little hard to accept him donning a roadside romeo type outfit and mouthing the tapori lingo but as you start getting used to it, you start enjoying the movie.

Buddha Hoga Tera Baap is fresh and a fascinating movie by Puri that thankfully doesn’t drag itself and has quite an interesting entwine. Viju (Amitabh Bachchan) is a sharp shooter and in his words can shoot right through the center of the brain not once but twice without missing a centimeter. He comes down from Paris to Mumbai after 20 years to save his son ACP Karan (Sonu Sood) from the mafia while Karan is not aware about his actions.

Particularly crafted for the mega star, Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap stands apt for its name. This Bbuddah is sabka baap. Bachchan takes the whole movie on his shoulder and can today also give any actor a run for their money. As he truly says in the movie that Mumbai has grown with him and the young ones are copying his style and moves. He sure is the Baap of the Indian Film Industry.

The movie has parallel stories that suggest Karan’s love inclination for Tanya (Sonal Chauhan), Viju’s past that includes his alienated wife Sita (Hema Malini) and ex-girlfriend Kamini (Raveena Tandon) who swoons over the gangster. And then there is Kamini’s daughter Amrita (Charmy) who is puzzled about what is and what was her mum’s relation with Viju. All these parallel stories add the necessary drama and punk to make the movie all the more interesting.

Raveena Tandon needs extraordinary mention, the original item queen of Bollywood is back and how. She looks striking and is a treat to watch. We keep craving for her item number ‘Chandigarh di Star’ only to find out that it was just shot for promotions. Raveena is amazing with her magnifying charisma and yummy screen presence.

Hema Malini performs her part well. Sonu Sood is fine and plays his part with perfection. The icing on the cake is Prakash Raj who probably has mastered the art of playing the baffled villain. We loved him in ‘Wanted’ and will love him in ‘Bbuddah’. Sonal Chauhan had nothing much to do while South Indian actress Charmy fits the role and does justice to it. Puri Jagannadh’s direction is crisp and takes out the best out of his actors. The main high point of the film is its editing and tighter script. It doesn’t feel dragged and ends at the right point. Vishal-Shekhar’s music is apt and could be well played in pubs.

Overall, film is good to watch for Amitabh, this one is absolutely worth your money spent.
