For protection and ethical treatment of animals, Sonu Sood joins hand with PETA. He is now a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA India. The actor, who has starred in a number of commercially successful movies such as “Dabangg” and “Jodhaa Akbar” and now shares his screen with Amitabh Bachchan in his new movie “Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap” feels strongly against the practice of Canadian seal hunt where thousands of seals are killed every year by the fishermen for meat and fur.
Sonu Sood has also sent a written petition to the Canadian government to stop the brutality against the seals. The annual seal hunt saw the death of more than 300,000 seals in 2010. Many times, baby seals aged only a few weeks are killed. It is especially horrible the way the seals are actually killed. Clubs and hakapiks are used to crush the skulls of the seals with repeated blows and sometimes the skulls aren’t crushed enough, which means the seals encounter a slow and painful death. World leaders like US President Barack Obama and His Holiness the Dalai Lama have condemned the seal hunt.
Actor Sonu Sood has told that he feels strongly for the cause of wildlife protection and he is happy to do his bit in ensuring the conservation of wildlife.
