Film Singham Music Review

Film: 'Singham'; Music
Directors: Ajay Gogavale and Atul Gogavale;
Lyricist: Swanand Kirkire;
Singers: Sukhwinder Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Ajay Gogavale, Kunal Ganjawala and Richa Sharma;

National Award-winning music directors Ajay-Atul are known for their music in Marathi movies, even though they have given music for a few Bollywood movies as well in the past. But in 'Singham' the musical couple have not been able to discover many elements as the album has only three originals and it is not a musical movie.
The album kickstarts with Sukhwinder Singh crooning the title track 'Singham' that starts with mantra chants. The track is more of a song that will be used in the background than something that can be hummed. It is moderately-paced and introduces the character -- an average beginning to the album.
Then comes a love ballad 'Saathiya' that has Shreya Ghoshal behind the mike with backing vocals by composer Ajay himself. A sweet effortless melody, the song grows on the listener.
After that is a track with slight Sufi influences - 'Maula maula'. This too is romantic and has been sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Richa Sharma who harmonize each other totally. Although the composition is not very experimental, it still manages to generate interest and is quite likeable.
All the three songs have one remix each.
In general, not much can be said about the album because there are a very few songs. Not a music buff's delight, but the songs might work well on screen.
