Bollywood’s yesteryear actress-turned-author Suchitra
Krishnamurthy took to Twitter to post about her view on the newly concluded
elections, expressing her happiness about actress-turned-politician Kirron
Kher’s win. However, in the same tweet she also mentioned an objectionable
comment on another Bollywood actress-turned-politician, Gul Panag.
Suchitra posted, “Kirron Kher win over Gul Panag. India
needs strong women & mothers not cleavage flashers.”
Now, while Suchitra’s horrible comment didn’t really go down
well with the Twitter community, our very own fashionista Sonam Kapoor went on
to react to the same. She told, “I cannot believe a woman tweeted that. It’s
disgusting. Women are the biggest enemies of women.”
Not the one to keep calm and carry on, Suchitra reacted too,
telling, “True . So if u ever aspire to political office remember to put ur
clothes back on.”
Meanwhile Kirron’s hubby Anupam Kher took to Twitter to
congratulate his wife.
“Congratulations @KirronKherBJP for winning the Chandigarh
Parliamentary seat by a margin of more than 69000 votes. Jai Ho.:)”.
However, Kirron Kher and Gul Panag chose to maintain a
dignified silence.
Suchitra later apologized to Gul. She wrote, “Ok now I’ve
had it with that last tweet-2 late 2 take it back. Not a personal attack on Gul
but a general obsrvatn on political demeanor. my apologies to @GulPanag – but i
stand by my statement that a young woman seen in a sexual context will not be
taken seriously otherwise (sic).”
