Boney Kapoor’s first films deal fails after joining Sahara India Pariwar!

It seems that Boney Kapoor is having a tough start for his new role as Sahara India head. He has been freshly signed up by Sahara India Pariwar.
The broadcasting business company owned and managed by Subrata Roy has not been having it well for some time, both in the field of film business as well as in the sphere of general Hindi entertainment. The TV channel Sahara One has been generating low TRP’s and four out of the last five releases by Sahara bombed at the box office.
Thus film maker Boney Kapoor has been called in to put right for get rid from these damages. For a start, he determined to purchase the distribution rights for the next 3 upcoming projects of Dharma Productions, namely Agneepath, Short Term Shaadi and an unnamed movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and offered Karan Johar 150 crore for them. But Karan Johar felt that the price offered was too low, in view of that only one of these movies would cost more than a 100 crore.
Even by modest standards, the production costs for ‘Agneepath’ would nearly touch the 100-crore mark. Hence the idea of buying three movies for just a meager 150 crore seemed baseless to Karan Johar. Sources have also mentioned that Karan is open to working with distributors besides Yash Raj Films provided he gets an excellent deal.
