Nana Patekar says no for a film due to Dawood Ibrahim!

Most of the Bollywood actors always have a attraction of playing the character of the most notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim .

But actor Nana Patekar is a big exception in the film industry who has honestly declined to play the role of the Karachi based don and feels that portraying him could be an insult to the entire nation.

Nana makes his come back playing a cop Hanumant Singh in Shagird which is an intense cinema directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. Says Nana, “No, I don’t want to play Dawood Ibrahim, just simple the character doesn’t enthuse me in any way”.

Patekar who essayed the role of an encounter specialist Sadhu Agashe in Ab Tak Chappan has always portrayed himself as a true patriot in movies such as Tiranga, Krantiveer Kohraam, Yeshwant and playing Dawood shall never be tolerated by an serious and dedicated actor like him.

Nana elaborates, “I always believe criminals and such characters should not be glorified and given heroic importance”.

Nana tried his stint as a director in the film Prahaar.  He also acted in the movie where he played an upfront Indian army officer who takes on local goons and legal system.

In past the industry’s topmost actors like Sanjay Dutt, Emran Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Ajay Devgn have played characters based on Dawood and if rumors are to be believed actor Akshay Kumar has been roped in to play a character of Dawood  for the sequel of Once Upon a time in Mumbai.
