Meera, who recently announced her retirement from the Pakistan film industry, is all set to wed Naveed Shehzad.

The Lollywood actress, who even appeared on TV shows in the quest of finding a husband, has finally decided to give in to her parents' wishes.

Meera's parents on Sunday accepted the proposal of a Pakistani-American airline captain, Naveed Shehzad, who is also the actor's family friend.

"They are family friends from America, they have accepted our demands, hence the engagement is on," the Express tribune quoted Shafqat Zohra Bukhari, Meera's mother as saying.

Even Meera confirmed the news.

"Shehzad is a family friend and I will be getting engaged to him on my family's insistence," she told.

However, Shehzad told the media that he has liked Meera ever since he "set his eyes" on her in 2009 at his sister's wedding in New York. The pilot also says he prefers to call Meera by her real name, Rubab.

Shehzad also dismissed rumours that he had divorced his alleged first wife to marry Meera.

"Rumours of me having kids or being married are simply untrue," he told.

Meanwhile, he clarified that the ceremony at Meera's house on Sunday was not the engagement but was just a 'baat pakki' and also added that the media would be informed about the 'grand engagement ceremony' which will take place soon and added that.

"God willing, the marriage will be held by the end of this year," he added.

Esha Deol has got engaged to her boyfriend Bharat Takhtani in a simple ceremony.

Esha Deol is no longer single and ready to mingle. In fact she hasn't been single for a major part of last year. After the small family ceremony, she is formally engaged to her boyfriend Bharat Takhtani.

Esha Deol had once told that her engagement would be a grand event - but the ceremony today was not. It was limited to a family affair.

Indian Canadian actress Lisa Ray has got engaged. Her boyfriend Jason Dehni proposed to her in California's Napa Valley.

"Just returned from the glorious Napa Valley - the gourmand's and wine-lovers' paradise. ENGAGED to the love of my life. Jason Dehni proposed in Napa. #happiestdayever", she posted on her Twitter page.

She also posted her picture with her beau.

The actress was diagnosed with the rare cancer of plasma cells in 2009. After a year of treatment, she disclosed she had beaten the disease.

Lisa made her Bollywood debut in 2001 with "Kasoor", but received critical acclaim for her performance in Deepa Mehta's "Water".

Has Anushka Sharma clandestinely got engaged? The Band Baaja Baaraat star definite seems to be giving away such vibes. Anushka was freshly spotted at a Juhu multiplex, where she turned up to catch a movie with a few friends and family. While she was dressed casually in a white tee, black denims and striped chappal s, a couple of accessories caught everyone’s attention. The first was a huge giraffe pendant that, of course, can be termed as a whacky style statement. What got everyone around whispering was the sparkling little stone on the ring finger on her left hand. Speculations instantaneously started doing the rounds if Anushka has secretly had an engagement, and also over who had given her the expensive diamond studded ring.

In the meantime Anushka’s blowhot, blow-cold relationship with her Band Baaja Baaraat co- star Ranveer Singh has once more come into focus after the ring episode, giving rise conjectures if Ranveer is the man. Most in the industry however feel it is too early for either Ranveer or Anushka — both rising superstars — to settle down just yet.

"Ranveer is barely 25 and Anushka around 23. Both of them are poised for big things as stars. It’s doubtful they will plan an engagement at this point," told the source. Sources also point out at reports that Anushka and Ranveer have freshly had a spat. However, industry insiders are completely dismissing the speculation that the ring could indeed mark an engagement for Anushka, even if the man in question is not Ranveer.

"Actors getting engaged or wedded secretly is an old trend in Bollywood. For someone like Anushka chiefly, it would make sense to be silent about an engagement if she did go for it, because her career is on the rise,” told a source. In the past, Juhi Chawla, Aamir Khan and Govinda have been among stars who hid their married status for long during the phase when their careers were on the rise. Anushka has in the recent past also been linked with Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor. On the other hand, just like Ranveer Singh, neither Ranbir nor Shahid seem to be in the mood to settle down yet. So, who could it be? As the question does the rounds on the rumor mill, may be the entire act was merely tease on Anushka’s part. After all, it did get her some free publicity.
