Pakistani actress Meera is all set to tie the knot with her fiancé Captain Naveed Shahazad on July 21, after convincing his father Raja Pervez to accept the marriage.

Talking to media, Pervez told that they had agreed to accept Meera as their daughter-in-law for the sake of the happiness of their son.

"We have agreed to Naveed's marriage with Meera for the delight of our son," The Nation quoted him as saying.

The father denied making any accusations against Meera and said that the reports circulated through media were baseless.

However, he accepted that their family was going through an anxious phase as media launched character assassination campaign against Meera.

Earlier Shahzad's parents had broke the engagement of Meera with their son and told media that Meera was already married and her case was pending in

Meera, who recently announced her retirement from the Pakistan film industry, is all set to wed Naveed Shehzad.

The Lollywood actress, who even appeared on TV shows in the quest of finding a husband, has finally decided to give in to her parents' wishes.

Meera's parents on Sunday accepted the proposal of a Pakistani-American airline captain, Naveed Shehzad, who is also the actor's family friend.

"They are family friends from America, they have accepted our demands, hence the engagement is on," the Express tribune quoted Shafqat Zohra Bukhari, Meera's mother as saying.

Even Meera confirmed the news.

"Shehzad is a family friend and I will be getting engaged to him on my family's insistence," she told.

However, Shehzad told the media that he has liked Meera ever since he "set his eyes" on her in 2009 at his sister's wedding in New York. The pilot also says he prefers to call Meera by her real name, Rubab.

Shehzad also dismissed rumours that he had divorced his alleged first wife to marry Meera.

"Rumours of me having kids or being married are simply untrue," he told.

Meanwhile, he clarified that the ceremony at Meera's house on Sunday was not the engagement but was just a 'baat pakki' and also added that the media would be informed about the 'grand engagement ceremony' which will take place soon and added that.

"God willing, the marriage will be held by the end of this year," he added.
