Karan Johar grooms Trio Varun-Alia-Siddharth before casting in film Student of the year!

Varun Dhawan fed on mainstream Bollywood films and son of reputed director David Dhawan, is the third newbie to debut in Karan Johar’s upcoming film "Student of the year". He signed in the film’s contract with the other newbies Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra. He and his brother Rohit Dhawan directed the movie "Desi Boyz". However this youngster’s parents David ji and Lali did not want him to be in movies unless he completes his education. He was sent off to Manchester to earn a degree in business management.

But luck had it, he flew from Manchester and landed in Karan Johar’s office and expressed his wish to assist Kjo in "My Name Is Khan". One fine day, Kjo looked at him through the camera lens and found Varun had the face for camera. Karan recalled the incident when one day Farah Khan came down on the sets of MNIK and was surprised to see such good looking assistants of Karan, Siddharth and Varun.

Varun has done several acting workshops and he signed in for SOTY in the same week when Siddharth and Alia were also signed in. Karan personally took several acting workshops for the trio in his flat. And as Karan determined to promote fresh talents instead of casting big stars as he always did, the trios were rewarded by offering them roles in the movie.
