Real Honour Killing inspires a love story on the reel!

Honour killing is a condemnable phenomenon that is rapidly on the rise in Asian countries primarily and most acutely seen in India and Indian expat families.

Bollywood films are well-known for their romantic plots mixed with pulsating song and dance routines.

Rarely do they look into contentious issues.

However, a London based filmmaker and director Avtar Bhogal is doing just that by tackling the practice of so-called honour killings in Britain. Basically, film honour killing is a love story which revolves around the contentious issue honour killing.

Director brings together a multi-cultural cast and crew from India, Pakistan and Britain

Such killings involve the victims - usually young women - being murdered by family who judge them to have brought dishonor on the family, often because of their social contact with men.

They have been carrying out for centuries in the Middle East and South Asia but, as communities have migrated, the practice has spread to Europe, including the UK

The problem is predominantly severe across Punjab state, on both sides of the border between India and Pakistan

The emotional tale will release in Punjabi (Rubba Maaf Kareen) and Hindi, as well as English, and it is to be dubbed into several other languages for the global audience.

The film Honour Killing has international starcast such as Zara Sheikh, Sandeep Singh, Javed Sheikh, Tom Alter, Gulshan Grover, Prem Chopra, Clowe Wicks, Alexander Hulme, Sandeep Garcha, Manjit Johal, Gurdial Sira, Cindy Sidhu, Karan Singh, Nad Nazir, Farzana Anwar, Wardah Khan, Ray Burnet, Steven Drew, Grant Huggair, James Helder, Pammi Dhillon, Altaf Ali, Zeeshan Ali, Jas Juttla, Jas Gahir etc.

The film Honour Killing is set to release on 11 April 2014.
