Prime Minister Gilani misses a chance to meet his favourite Aishwarya!

Even as Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani strides into Mohali to catch the live action at the 'World Cup' semi finals between India and Pakistan, he'll be missing out on experiencing a thrill that's far removed from cricket. The high of meeting his favourite Indian star… Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, that is.

Reportedly, the Junior Bachchan couple were slated to be in Mohali too for the match, though a change of plans has forced them to stay put in Mumbai and watch the cricketing frenzy at their home.

Not only has the Pak PM reiterated time and again that he's a great fan of Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan, he ventured a step forward and wrote about his abiding admiration for the global beauty in his book Chahe Yousuf Saay Saadia, that he penned when he was imprisoned during the regime of former Pak PM Pervez Mussharaf.

When Pranab Mukherjee, then External Affairs Minister met up with Gilani at Pakistan in 2008, he'd carried a DVD box of Aishwarya's films. And Gilani had expressed his elation describing the gesture as a "pleasant surprise."

A former aide of politico Mukherjee states in a media quote, "When Gilani was in jail during the 2001 2006 regime of Mussharaf, he used to watch Aishwarya's movies on his laptop, since he was such an ardent fan of the actress. He's also written about it in his book."

Although Indian officials would have loved to make it happen, unluckily Gilani will miss out on this Mohali (cricketing) date with the Stunner of all stunners.

Aishwarya's spokesperson, though, has been going around telling the media at large that she "wasn't scheduled to meet any Pakistani dignitary" and that the rumors are "completely false."
