‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai' outshines over ‘Dabangg' in IIFA


Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’ leads nominations tally that was closely followed by ‘Dabangg’, ‘Ishqiya’ ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ at the 12th IIFA Awards.

 ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’ has been nominated in 12 categories. Followed by ‘Dabangg’ that has been nominated in 11 categories. While ‘Ishqiya’ has managed to enter nine nominations and ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ and ‘Raajneeti’ follows with eight nominations.

‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Ishqiya’, ‘Rajneeti’, ‘My Name is Khan’ and ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ are in the race for the Best film.

The Best Actor (Male) category includes Salman Khan for ‘Dabangg’, Hrithik Roshan for ‘Guzaarish’, Ranbir Kapoor for ‘Rajneeti’, Ajay Devgn for ‘Once upon a time in Mumbaai’ and Shah Rukh Khan for ‘My Name is Khan’, while the actress to vie for Best Actor (Female) category are Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for ‘Guzaarish’, Katrina Kaif for ‘Rajneeti’, Anushka Sharma for ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, Vidya Balan for ‘Ishqiya’ and Kareena Kapoor for ‘Golmaal 3’.

Maneesh Sharma for ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, Abhinav Kashyap for ‘Dabangg’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘Guzaarish’, Karan Johar for ‘My Name is Khan’, Milan Luthria for ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ and Vikramaditya Motwane for ‘Udaan’ will race to bag the Best Director trophy. 

Best Music category has the names to the likes of Salim-Sulaiman for ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit for ‘Dabangg’, Vishal-Shekhar for ‘I Hate Luv Storys’, Vishal Bharadwaj for ‘Ishqiya’, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for ‘My Name is Khan’ and Pritam for ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’.

Sunidhi Chauhan with her chartbusters ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’(Tees Maar Khan) and Ainvayi Ainvayi (Band Baaja Baaraat)  has been pitched against Mamta Sharma for ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ (Dabangg) for the Best Singer (Female) category.

IIFA director Sabbas Joseph revealed that over 1500 votes came from the film fraternity during the IIFA voting weekend for the extravaganza that will be held in Toronto this year between June 23 and 25. Online voting for the Awards will go live from May 10 and will be open for participation to the global viewers of Bollywood on the IIFA website.
