Gulzaarsaab -Translating legendary Tagore’s tune!
If there is someone who can do justice to the legendary poet Rabindranath Tagore's work it is master lyricist Gulzar. And, right enough Gulzar would be doing the Hindi translation of two poems of Tagore for Subhash Ghai's Bengali film Nouka Dubi directed by Rituparno Ghosh.
The film is all set to release on the 150th birth anniversary of Tagore, on May 6, as a tribute, since the film is based on one of his mainstream stories.
Subhash Ghai couldn't have found a better person to pen the lyrics for the Hindi version, called KASHMAKASH, because Gulzar is well versed with Bengali, Hindi and also Tagore's poems. The lyrical legend was impressed with the Bengali version of Nouka Dubi and more than readily
accepted the offer to write the lyrics in Hindi.
Subhash Ghai has himself read works like Geetanjali, Shesher Kobita, Chaturganga, Chokher Bali and Ghare Baire.
Non-Bengali audiences would get the original taste of Tagore's work since Gulzar has retained the tune and subtext of the poems and given a wonderful expression. Teri Seemaye Koi Nahi Hai and Maanav aagey bhag re are the two Hindi songs and the girl with sweetest voice Shreya Ghosal would be singing in both Bengali and Hindi versions.
NOUKADUBI, the Bengali version will release inBengal , whilst the Hindi Version (KASHMAKASH) will release nationally.
