Kisser Emraan Hashmi turns 31!

He started off from the 'Footpath', took to 'Murder' and graduated to being a 'Gangster'! There are partying galore in the Bhatt camp and indeed the entire cine world as B'Town's favourite 'Bad Boy' turns a year older on 24th March!

Emraan was born to a Muslim father and a Roman Catholic mother in the city. The only son of Anwar and Maherahh Hashmi, Emraan completed his schooling from Maneckji Cooper Educational Trust School. He went to Sydenham College in Mumbai, and finally graduated with a Commerce degree.

Hashmi was never keen to make an appearance in front of the camera. In fact, he joined Vishesh Films as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt and worked on movies such as 'Raaz' and 'Kasoor', before uncle Mahesh convinced him to take up acting as a profession.

Though his debut movie, 'Footpath' (2003) didn't exactly set the cash registers ringing, Emraan was noticed for his portrayal of gangster Raghu Shrivastav and the offers started pouring in.

Hashmi tasted his first commercial hit with Anurag Basu's 'Murder' which featured him opposite the sizzling Mallika Sherawat. The movie was a super hit and it was the first of many for the young actor who went on to act in movies such as 'Zeher', 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne', 'Kalyug', 'Gangster', 'The Train', 'Aawarapan' and 'Jannat'. His lover boy act and intimate scenes with female co stars in many of these movies earned him the tag of Bollywood's 'Serial Kisser'.

Emraan starred beside Kangna Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman in horror film 'Raaz The Mystery Continues'(2009) which went on to become the first hit of the year. His next movie, 'Tum Mile', inspired by the Mumbai floods, sank without a trace, but for Hashmi, the best was yet to come.

His performance as the power greedy gangster who topples Mumbai's kingpin in Milan Luthria's 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai', earned him his first nomination for Filmfare 'Best Supporting Actor'.

In Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji', he once again shared the screen with Ajay Devgn, his co star and on screen arch foe from 'Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai'. Emraan played the role of girl crazy Abhay, a gym trainer who falls hard for Shruti Haasan's Nikki. With movies such as Dibakar Banerjee's 'Shanghai' and Mahesh Bhatt's 'Murder 2' in the offing, Emraan is all set to scale great heights.

Although not having the archetypical Greek God looks, the actor has managed to carve a niche in the industry. His success has been buoyed by the success of the musical score of almost all his films. Most of the songs from his movies have gone on to become chartbusters.

Married to his long time girlfriend Parveen, Emraan is also a proud father to Ayaan who was born in February 2010.

On his 31st birthday, we wish the very best for Emraan on both personal and professional fronts and wish that he continues to woo all his fans from 'Mumbaai' to 'Shanghai'!
