After being stuck for a while, 'Chittagong ' will finally see the light of the day courtesy Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra. The director says that the delay was a blessing in disguise as he got time to do the patch work.
The film is a true story about revolution against the British in Chittagong , then a district in undivided Bengal , in 1930-34.
Anurag saw the movie and liked it and agreed to be a presenter of the film with his distributor friend Bohra, who will distribute it.
'The small delay was a blessing in disguise as it gave us some more time to do the patch work. I am deeply honoured that respected filmmakers such as Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rakeysh Mehra, Ketan Mehta and others have loved the film, and I am thrilled that Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra are releasing the film now,' told the film's director Bedabrata Pain, who is making his debut with it.
The film stars Manoj Bajpai and is slated to release early next year.
'Anurag is a good friend. He liked the film a lot and told me about it. We are jointly presenting the film and we will try and ensure that the film has a wide release like any other commercial film,' told Bohra.
Previously Ashutosh Gowariker made a film on the same subject with Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role as 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey', which got into controversy when Kashyap accused Amitabh Bachchan of stalling his production 'Chittagong' to create space for his son's movie.
